Teaching assistant will have VIP role at the Paralympics

A TEACHING assistant from Boston has been selected to chauffeur VIPs around the 2012 Paralympic Games later this year.

Becky Thompson, 32, who works at the John Fielding Special School, applied to be a gamesmaker at the Olympics and Paralympics.

She said: “I wanted to do this because it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and also it will be great to meet new people from all around the world.”

Following a selection event in London early last year she was chosen to be a driver for the Paralympics.

The role will involve driving athletes and corporate guests to venues all over London for the events, which take place between August 29 and September 9.

“I have begun my training already and will be spending some time in London over the next few weeks to complete this,” she said.

Mrs Thompson has worked with post-16 students at the Ashlawn Drive school for over three years.

She is also studying for an Open University degree in Spanish and French and has a 12-year-old son at Boston Grammar School.
