A 15-year-old Boston boy has been injured after falling from a wall at St Botolph’s footbridge onto a concrete slab.

Emergency services were called to the scene by the bridge in Church Street at about 7.30pm yesterday.

A police spokesman said the boy, of Haven Meadows, had climbed out to the south-east side of the bridge and onto a bankside wall, which then collapsed.

He fell down to the muddy riverbank, landing on a concrete slab, but did not enter the water.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue winched him to safety before he was taken to Pilgrim Hospital suffering from a number of fractures to his ankle.
