A passenger was airlifted to hospital after suffering serious abdominal injuries in a collision on the A17 earlier today.

The collision took place at Algarkirk near to Sutterton roundabout at about 11.50om and involved a Mercedes A150 and a Peugeot 206.

The passenger in the Mercedes, a 61 year-old woman from Grimsby, was flown to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham suffering from serious abdominal injuries.

The drivers of the Mercedes, whose details have not yet been confirmed by police, and the Peugeot, a 38 year-old man from Whaplode, were both taken to Pilgrim Hospital with what are described as ‘less serious injuries’.

The road was closed while recovery work took place but is now re-opened to traffic.
