Todwick: Shock as live mortar bomb discovered in garage

Shocked residents gathered to watch as bomb disposal experts swooped on a property in Todwick after a live mortar bomb was discovered in a garage.

It happened at around midday on The Pastures, which is located in the centre of the village.

It is understood the bomb was found while one the property’s occupants was cleaning out their garage and has now been safely removed with nobody hurt.

Fiona Grayson, who lives next door to the property, told the Guardian: “It was just an ordinary afternoon. We were sat having lunch when a riot van pulled up outside with several staff followed by bomb disposal. That’s something you don’t see everyday!”
