MOTORISTS are being warned to expect delays during a two-week job to resurface a mile stretch of the A17.

The work is set to be carried out on the busy road on a stretch from about a mile south of Bicker Bar roundabout to Hipper Lane in Wigtoft.

It starts on Monday and runs until Monday, June 25, with work expected to be carried out 24 hours a day subject to weather conditions.

Lincolnshire County Council principal engineer Arthur Pearson said: “These improvements are being carried out to help ensure the roads are in a safe condition for motorists to use – no road can last forever.

“We’ll have a convoy system in place with traffic lights to keep people on the move, but do allow extra time for your journey, or find an alternative route.”

The highways department says motorists will not be able to use Broad Lane and Mill Lane to get onto the A17, although local access should remain for residents.

Advance warning signs are already in place for motorists and the emergency services and bus operators have been informed.
