Emergency tree work set to close A16 tonight

A fallen tree means emergency work will have to take place from 6pm tonight (Tuesday) along the A16.

A Lincolnshire County Council spokesman said the work will take place between the Liquorpond Street roundabout and the ATS roundabout.

They said half the tree came down earlier this afternoon in heavy winds, and the rest ‘needs to be felled to be made safe’.

Traffic will be managed, but the road may need to be closed temporarily to all traffic for a few minutes for safety reasons while the work goes ahead.

The spokesman added: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this essential safety work.”

Earlier today a tree had to be removed from outside Kirton fire station after it was believed to have been blown down by strong winds.
