MOTORISTS are facing large-scale disruption in Boston after a level crossing barrier became stuck in the down position.
The fault on the A16 Spalding Road was reported to police at 12.34pm today (Thursday).
Network Rail were notified about the fault, but told officers they would not be able to reach the level crossing for half-an-hour.
As of 2.45pm, motorists were still facing disruption with half the level crossing in the down position. Police were on site to guard traffic around the barrier.
Paul Moore, owner of Spalding Road firm Trade Imaging, said it had taken an hour for a customer to reach him from Spalding.
“The traffic has virtually been at a standstill,” he said.
“It’s nothing but havoc out there,” he added.
It is further woe for businesses along Spalding Road which, up until recently, have been suffering long-term disruption from Lincolnshire County Council’s road-widening works.
