Major road works are set to take place at Swineshead Bridge in a bid to help ease congestion.
Work will start today (Wednesday) at the A1121 junction with the A17 – with an extra approach lane being added.
The initial work will go on until Friday, with the widening of the the A1121 approach. During this time a one-way road closure will be in place.
Traffic travelling west will be diverted at the Sleaford Road roundabout via A52 onto the A17.
Between Monday, to next Wednesday, the A1121 will be fully closed to surface the new approach to the junction and resurface the A17/A1121 slip road.
Hamish McConchie, principal highways officer, said: “When we resurface the slip road two-way stop-go signs will be used at times on the A17 at Swineshead Bridge to protect the workforce.
“To minimise disruption to motorists the A1121 will be open for motorists to use over the weekend.
“The junction needs this extra lane and I’m sure it will be welcomed by people who use this road.”
