Two junctions on busy Boston road to be closed for a month due to traffic light improvements

The work at the junction of Sleaford Road, Brothertoft Road, and Woodville Road is set to begin on Monday, July 27, and last until Friday, August 28.

Button-controlled crossings and tactile paving will be installed or upgraded on each approach to the junction to make it easier for pedestrians and vulnerable road users to navigate, Lincolnshire County Council says.

The old traffic lights will also be replaced with new, ultra-low voltage equipment to drastically reduce the energy consumption and carbon footprint of the lights, it adds.

As a result of the work, there will be road closures at the top of Woodville Road and Brothertoft Road for the duration of the project. Local diversion routes and temporary crossings will be in place.

Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “We want our roads to be as safe as possible for all our roads users, so we’re bringing the lights and crossings at this junction up to standard.

“It’ll also mean that there’s a safe way across the road, no matter which direction you approach the junction from.

“Thanks to residents in Boston for bearing with us whilst we make this a safer road.”
