A fire investigation is under way after 25 patients were evacuated from a ward at Boston Pilgrim Hospital this morning.
Eight fire crews attended the blaze, which broke out in a ward kitchen, at 5.59am this morning, Friday March 31.
Matt King, group manager at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said: “We were called to reports of a fire on the ninth floor at Pilgrim Hospital.
“When crews arrived they were presented with a well developed fire in the kitchen area of ward 9a.
“Those crews immediately commenced fire fighting action and assisted in the reallocation of 25 patients.
“As a result of those quick actions by fire and rescue service and the hospital staff we managed to bring the incident to a conclusion without any injuries to patients or staff.”
At the height of the incident eight fire and rescue appliances were at the scene.
A full fire investigation is now under way.
