Police are appealing for the driver of a 4x4 vehicle to help them with their enquiries after a collision saw a teenage moped rider taken to hospital with serious injuries this morning (Thursday).
The 19-year-old girl, believed to be living in the local area, was taken to Pilgrim Hospital, in Boston, following the incident on the A52 at Wyberton Fen, near Boston, and police say she is ‘likely’ to be transferred to Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, shortly.
Sgt Ewan Gell, from the Collision Investigation Team, is urgently appealing to trace a driver, who may be an important witness.
The driver was in a 4x4 vehicle, described as a ‘Freelander’ type (exact make and colour not known), and overtook a Volvo artic cab (without the trailer) shortly before the collision.
The driver and other witnesses should contact the Collision Witness Hotline on 01522 558855.
The A52 is closed between the Tesco roundabout and the Four Crossroads junction and is likely to remain so for some hours. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible and follow diversions.
