Work has finally begun to remove St Botolph’s old footbridge in Boston today - with a crane being used to lift sections of it away.
Sparks flew as workmen began to dismantle the bridge this morning before the middle section was craned up and across to nearby Lawrence Lane.
It was closed on Monday as part of plans to replace it with a new £750,000 modern structure.
The bridge – which spans the Haven between the police station and Standard office – is due to reopen on February 21.
Pedestrians are being signposted to use Town Bridge instead.
