The ground at the Quadrant development has been officially broken this afternoon (Monday).
Chestnut Homes managing director David Newton told those attending how the work on the development starting today was the culmination of 13 years of work and said he was ‘absolutely delighted’.
He then described some of the trials and tribulations the work had gone through and praised the partnership working of those involed.
“It’s been a real journey together,” he added.
Coun Leader Peter Bedford then climbed into a digger and broke the ground, marking the official start of the building work.
The development will start with the building of the roundabout, which will lead onto the distributor road.
It is hoped the housing and stadium work will begin in September/October.
