Hard work and dedication have seen a Boston village claim a ‘best kept’ prize – the third such award in the last 10 years.
Freiston has come first in the Best Kept Village competition’s Past Winners’ class, scoring 148 out of 150 points.
Chairman of the parish council John Tillson said: “I think the village is justifiably delighted, it’s been a big effort over the years.
“We have been consistently highly marked in this competition but the decision is made by about 6-8 points so it’s very close. This is a tougher section than the normal classes as it’s filled with previous winners.”
Mr Tillson added: “It has been a team effort from individuals and businesses.
“We attempt to maintain a consistently high standard throughout the year and then it’s straight forward.
“We don’t prepare for the competition, to us the competition helps to maintain a high standard.”
The awards are organised by Community Lincs and sponsored by county and district councils and Pennells Nurseries.
