Volunteers, businesses and members of the public have been picking up their black bin bags and litter-pickers today (Monday) for the eighth Big Boston Clean Up.

Starting on Monday, the annual event sees people head out onto the streets of Boston to give it a spring clean.

The groups set off from the council’s municipal building on West Street and took their coffee breaks in Fenside Community Centre.

Organiser and Boston Borough Council environmental and sustainability officer said the event had started ‘really well’, adding people were ‘enjoying’ it.

She said: “Everybody is really enthusiastic.”

She said she expected about 300 people to take part this week and added many see it as ‘more of a fun social occasion’.
