A PIANIST who has played for the Malaysian royal family will perform in Swineshead on Friday.

Di Xiao began her musical studies at the age of four, winning numerous prizes and competitions at an early age.

She has been invited to perform in many countries including Malaysia, Ukraine and the UK.

On Friday, she will be performing at Swineshead Village Hall as part of the Windmill Music Studio Concerts 2010-11 season.

In 1997 she played Chengzong Yin’s Yellow River Piano Concerto in Kuala Lumpur and Penang for the Malaysian royal family.

Di Xiao had her first international performance outside Asia in January 2006 at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. It was described by the UK Chinese Times as ‘a stunning concert’ and the Birmingham Post called her ‘a pianist of awesome gifts’.

She released her debut album Di Xiao Presents in 2008 and in April 2009 toured across Europe to 12 of the world’s most prestigious concert halls.

The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12, children are free. To book call 01205 820246.
