THE NHS incurs a lot of criticism, because negative things prompt us to write letters, but most people’s experience is generally positive and, in these times of pressure on public services, I would like to praise what I normally take for granted.
I had to attend A & E at Pilgrim Hospital on August 16 and, throughout a long day, I was most impressed with my treatment.
The porters were patient, efficient and kind. I underwent three tests and saw three doctors. All staff were excellent, but I must commend in particular Dr Altripp, as well as the junior sister and her fellow nurses.
I am reporting nothing extraordinary or dramatic, just day-to-day considerate, competent and cheerful professionalism which is the hallmark of the NHS.
