POEM: Forget lights, put up a poppy

Reader Janet Flynn penned a special poppy poem for Remembrance Sunday...

Forget lights put up a poppy

Do we really need Christmas lights outside your store?

Before October is out - I implore

They may look pretty & light up the sky

But way too early can I ask why?

Wouldn’t it have been a perfect opportunity to display

A poppy in lights for Remembrance day

For 100 years sacrifices have been made

It could have been a tribute for the price they paid

To pay respect to the ones who didn’t make it back

Some young, all brave, no courage did they lack

There is still time to change your mind

A fitting tribute to those left behind...
