Stop our charity losing £££s through Gift Aid

EVERY year charities lose thousands of pounds through lost Gift Aid. And the Butterfly Hospice Trust is no exception.

Gift Aid is a way of increasing your donation especially if you are sponsoring a friend or family member to take on a challenge such as a sponsored walk, cycle ride or even if you’re sitting in a bath of mushy peas on the beach like one of our friends is planning to do this year.

If you are a registered UK taxpayer for every £1 you donate or give to sponsor a friend, the charity concerned can claim back 28p provided that you tick the Gift Aid box on the sponsorship form and write in your name, first line of your home address and your postcode.

We find everyone really keen to tick the Gift Aid box, but unfortunately we cannot claim it for the hospice if the address is written as c/o a company or organisation or if the sponsor just writes the name of their town or village.

So next time you’re sponsoring a friend thank you for thinking about all those valuable 28ps and what a huge difference you can make to all just by writing in your name, the first line of your home address and your postcode.
