Boston CC will face Lincs ECB Premier leaders Bracebridge Heath in the final of the Albion Cup this evening.
The Mayflower men won the 18-over competition in 2011 and 2012, and will be looking to cause an upset and get their hands on the trophy yet again at Lindum’s ground.
“It’s a good test for us,” said captain Tom Baxter.
“They are heavy favourites. We will enjoy the game and see what happens.
“If we can play our best cricket then we will have a chance of coming away with a third Albion Cup title.”
Baxter will be left with a selection dilemma ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Grantham Seconds.
Matthew Hood (pictured), Saihan Azim and Sam Elliott will all be available again after missing Saturday’s victory at Belton Park.
The skipper says he will show faith in the regulars who have helped the Mayflower men to the top of the SLBL Premier.
“If they are all available then they will come back in,” he said.
“They have got us to this position over the past 11 weeks and, because they have missed one game, it doesn’t change anything.”
“Belly (Tim Bell) has 30 wickets in the Second XI this year from less than 100 overs, so he keeps knocking on the door, but the seamers in the First XI have done their jobs so far.”
The skipper is also unsure what kind of threat Grantham will pose, adding: “With any Second XI in this league, their team can be very different from week to week.
“They chased down a total of over 200 on Saturday but have lost a few games before that.”
