It’s top versus bottom in the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division this Saturday.
But as Boston Cricket Club’s Firsts prepare to travel to Welby, hoping for another 20 points, the Mayflower men are putting in the work in a bid to avoid an eyebrow raising upset.
“Yes, we should win next week but we will approach it in the same way we do every week,” said captain Tom Baxter (pictured).
“We will work hard at nets and then, on Saturday, we will set about getting a victory.”
Last year Boston picked up two comfortable victories against Welby, but Baxter felt that was because they approached the contests in the right way.
“You need to forget about the opposition at times,” he added. “We have our standards that we set ourselves and we will have targets that we want to meet throughout the day.”
Boston remain 10 points clear of title favourites Grantham at the top of the table with five rounds of matches played.
But with three quarters of the campaign left to go, Baxter believes it’s important to keep his charges fresh.
He added: “There will be a few changes to the team.
“It’s about picking sides to win that game.
“Everybody knows that these changes will happen and there is competition for places.
“This is something that can only improve the side.”
