BOSTON Cricket Club are gunning for former player/coach Dan Hegarty – after he switched to rivals Woodhall Spa.

And in a twist of fate, the two sides will come face-to-face this weekend at the Mayflower.

However, First XI captain Tom Baxter (pictured) says his side will only be gunning for the Australian at the wicket.

He said: “Of course, we are disappointed. But if he doesn’t want to play for us, what use is that?

“We have started to move on and prepare for the rest of the season.

“There will only be one game that I will care what he does in a Woodhall shirt - and that will be this week, when he returns to the Mayflower.”

“I wish him all the best at Woodhall Spa and that wish will start after our game on Saturday.”

Hegarty has become good friends with former Boston batsman Ricky Lovelace, aiding his decision.

“Woodhall will be a strong side and a good test for us on Saturday,” added Baxter.

Woodhall Spa sit third in the table, while Boston are still in the relegation places, knowing that a win can only strengthen their chances of survival.

Hegarty became the ninth player to join Woodhall Spa from Boston within the past 10 years, and started with 58 not out on Saturday in their loss to Lindum.
