Boston Rugby Club’s Seconds took centre stage on Saturday.

With the Firsts having no fixture, they entertained local rivals Sleaford, going down 19-5.

The weather at the Boradsides would determine the pattern of play, and which team used the elements the most effectively would take home the spoils.

Playing with the strong wind in the first half, it was the visitors and not Boston who came out strongly, only resolute defence stopping Sleaford scoring.

For Boston it would take 25 minutes before they crossed the whitewash, when number eight Jo Langford produced a strong run from 20m out.

Despite being camped in Sleaford’s half for the last 10 minutes they entered half time only 5-0 in front.

The second half saw Boston struggle against the strong wind and they created few opportunities to add to their score.

Sleaford registered three tries to close out a match.
