Heckington 107, Freiston LL 49 - Heckington won by 58 runs.

A dismal batting performance saw Freiston, Leake and Leverton miss out on the opportunity to go top of the table.

Freiston were skittled for less than 50 against bottom side Heckington.

Having elected to bowl first, Ollie Booth (pictured) led the way for Freiston.

The tall paceman claimed two early wickets.

However, a 33 run partnership between Elliott and opener Charlesworth frustrated Freiston.

Charlesworth, in particular, looked in fine form stroking the ball with ease through the off side.

Tommy Atkinson dismissed Elliott for 12, before Ashok Kumar claimed three quick wickets.

Charlesworth did bring up his 50 for the visitors as he played in an aggressive manner with the tail.

Atkinson claimed a further two wickets, before Booth returned to have Charlesworth well caught by Charles Lenton for a superb 73.

Booth ended with figures off 4-19 as Heckington were all out for 107.

Freiston lost Waseem Ilyas in the second over, but it was the fifth over, bowled by Elliott which changed the match.

Elliott dismissed opener Richard Paul (six), Sunil Panjwani and Zeeshan Saeed in a devastating triple wicket maiden.

Things got worse for Freiston and they were reduced to 17-6 when Stewart Kirtley (nine) became Elliott’s fifth wicket.

John Goodfellow (five) and Ashok Kumar added 32 for the seventh wicket, showing the top order the benefit of a clear game plan and determined application.

However, four wickets from Heckington captain Tunnicliffe ended the match in rapid fashion, with Freiston all out for 49.

Kumar top scored for Freiston with 27.

Next week Freiston travel to Skegness Seconds looking to get their promotion push back on track after two disappointing defeats.
