Boston Cricket Club captain Tom Baxter is looking to strengthen his squad for an assault on the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division next season.
After seeing his side finish in fourth place this campaign, he wants to bolster his ranks ahead of a promotion charge as the club want to return to the county’s top tier.
“We need to strengthen for next year, but not only at first-team level,” Baxter said.
“We are three players short of where I want to be.
“The batting has to improve.
“I have spoken to a few of the lads about where I want them to be.
“We are a very young side, probably the youngest in the league, so that is a positive.
“We are all still learning our games.”
Billingborough finished top of the pile, 56 points clear of second-placed Bourne and 59 ahead of Boston.
Stamford Town took third place.
Despite Boston leading for much of the season, a tough fixture list at the end of the season saw them slip down the table.
However, Baxter (pictured) was quick to praise the champions.
He said: “Billingborough have been the best side by far.
“They deserve to be where they are, and that is somewhere we want to be in the next two years.”
The club’s presentation night will be held at The Sportsman on Saturday, October 12 (7.30pm).
Tickets cost £3.
