Boston Cricket Club will return to match action this weekend with two friendly fixtures.
The Mayflower men will be dusting off the cobwebs with two matches on Saturday.
A Boston XI will host Spalding CC at the Mayflower while another Boston XI will make the short trip to Horncastle.
Also on Saturday, Boston CC will host its first fundraiser of the season, a race night that is being held at The Sportsman, beginning at 7.30pm.
First XI captain Tom Baxter is hoping to guide his side back to the Lincs ECB Premier after two years of being nearly men in the South Lincs and Border League Premier.
Boston host Belton Park before travelling to newly-promoted Grantham 2nd XI and then go on to face both Bourne and Sleaford 2nd XIs at the Mayflower.
When asked whether it was a start that they felt suited them, Baxter was unsure of what to expect.
“The only way that this is an easy start is if we have four wins on the board after that period.
“I believe that we can beat anybody in this league if we play to the best of our ability, but if that isn’t the case we could get beaten.”
Baxter is also eyeing success for the Second and Third XIs this year too.
He added: “If everybody is available, we will be putting out three very strong sides every Saturday.
“The First XI will be the strongest it has been since our relegation in 2012 but that goes for nothing come April 18.
“The good thing about this winter is we have heard nothing about any other sides in our league so we have been able to concentrate on ourselves.
“Last season, the First XI had a good season, whereas the Second and Third XI struggled to lower, bottom half finishes.
“With the improvements on the playing side, it will be hoped that all the sides can challenge further up the table.
“Ideally, we will want three Saturday sides near the top of their respective tables.
“This is something we will be striving for.”
