Graves Park 132, Freiston LL 136-3 - Freiston won by seven wickets.
Freiston, Leake and Leverton began their competitive campaign with a cup win over local rivals Graves Park.
The D. Brown Builders-sponsored side won by seven wickets as a 87 run partnership between Abdul Moeed and Zeeshan Saeed guided them home.
After electing to bowl first Freiston dismissed both openers within the first four overs.
Jack Ashton made 16 before he was well caught by the safe hands of Charles Lenton off the bowling of Ollie Booth.
Ben Brinkley (22) and Liam Maskell (37) top scored for the visitors but Freiston’s four-man bowling attack reduced the visitors to 108-9.
Taimur Mian took two wickets, whilst Tommy Atkinson claimed three.
Last man Joe Gilbert made an entertaining 17 to frustrate Freiston before he was stumped to give Abdul Moeed his third wicket.
Requiring 133 for victory, Freiston started well.
Openers Richard Paul and Waseem Ilyas put on 46 for the first wicket. Paul made 20 before being totally deceived by Martin Hodgson.
Ilyas soon followed for 25 before Sunil Panjwani became Hodgson’s second victim.
Freiston had lost three wickets for only three runs.
However, Moeed and Saeed rebuilt the innings and took the home side to victory.
Moeed made an unbeaten 35 and Saeed 46, as Freiston claimed victory with 15 overs remaining.
This weekend Freiston begin their league campaign away at Heckington.
