Boston CC Firsts will be looking to stifle South African batsman Obus Pienaar as they host third-placed Sleaford on Saturday.
After being on the receiving end of Bourne’s aggressive batting, things don’t look like getting much easier for the Mayflower men this weekend,
Pienaar has 990 runs at an average of 123, including six hundreds, so far this season - and he needs just 10 more for the quickest 1,000 in the Lincs ECB Premier’s history.
Boston will be close to full strength, as captain Tom Baxter will be the only one unavailable as he is still recovering from injury.
Boston will be the underdogs going into Saturday’s game and Baxter explains that this is nothing short of what they expected.
“At the start of the season, we knew we’d have four games at the start of the turnaround that would be difficult,” he said.
“Grantham and Bracebridge Heath were washed out, Bourne was a heavy defeat, then Sleaford on Saturday.
“After that, we will have a short seven week season where we need to perform to our maximum.”
In those seven weeks in the first half of the season, Boston managed two winning draws, two victories, a tie and two defeats.
