Boston Cricket Club’s Second XI were beaten by 45 runs at Long Sutton in the SLBL Division Two on Saturday.

Skipper Luke Gilding won the toss and elected to field, a decision which appeared fruitful as the hosts ended up on 144-9 from their 45 overs, courtesy of good bowling by Paul Deans (2-13), Michel Troops (2-37) and Shaun Moore (2-45), with Tom Appleyard, Chris Morley and Gilding adding a wicket apiece.

Things didn’t go to plan with the bat, and while Dave Gilding batted responsibly for 21, there was no support from the other end, with wickets tumbling at regular intervals.

Troops gave the side some hope of gaining victory by hitting a quickfire 21, but that wasn’t enough for Boston, as they were all out for 99 in 35.3 overs.
