Freiston, Leake and Leverton CC ended their season in magnificent style - securing a South Lincs and Border League double.
The D. Brown Builders-sponsored side beat Moulton Harrox on Saturday to claim the SLBL Division One title, before defeating Baston on Sunday to add success in the inaugural SLBL Cup.
SLBL Division One
Moulton Harrox 101, Freiston LL 102-4 - Freiston won by six wickets.
Freiston claimed the South Lincs and Border Divison One Championship with a disciplined victory over Moulton Harrox.
After rivals Spalding Seconds’ final match was rained off, Freiston knew they needed to beat Moulton and they did exactly that.
Tommy Atkinson claimed five wickets in a superb bowling spell as Moulton were dismissed for 101.
Dangerman Jack Barnett was run out by a super throw from Charles Lenton for 14, and Moulton skipper Broomfield was trapped LBW by Taimur Mian.
However, M. Barnett and Karl Hibbert batted sensibly for the visitors taking them to 85-3.
When Atkinson bowled Hibbert for 14 a collapse began as Atkinson pulled out his best bowling performance of the season.
Top scorer M. Barnett was bowled for 47 by John Goodfellow.
Goodfellow also had Griffiths caught by Abdul Moeed.
The innings ended when Atkinson claimed his fifth wicket having D. Hibbert caught by Waseem Ilyas.
Freiston knew chasing 101 wasn’t going to be easy on a pitch which made scoring difficult and a slow outfield, but they made a good start putting on 37 for the first wicket.
Waseem Ilyas made 24 before he was superbly stumped by Broomfield.
Abdul Moeed made 9 before he was trapped LBW by D. Hibbert.
Connor Goodfellow made 10 as Freiston continued to move towards the victory target.
Opener Richard Paul batted with determination and when he was joined by Charles Lenton the run rate did slow, but steadily the 26 remaining runs where whittled down.
A couple off offside boundaries from Paul (36*) brought the target down to within one shot, and when Lenton (9*) drove through the covers victory was secure and the title was Freiston’s.
Freiston LL 209-8, Baston 125 - Freiston won by 84 runs.
A sensational 121-run third wicket partnership between Connor Goodfellow and Abdul Moeed set up Freiston’s success in the final of the South Lincs and Border League Cup.
Goodfellow made 76 and Moeed 56 as Freiston amassed an imposing 209 off their 40 overs.
Four wickets from Ashok Kumar then dented Baston’s hopes as they were bowled out for 125.
Having been asked to bat first, Freiston lost Richard Paul for seven, but Waseem Ilyas looked in good form for his 19 before he became the second victim for Hilless.
Goodfellow and Moeed then turned the match in Freistons favour with their partnership.
Moeed was more watchful whilst Goodfellow played with great fluency.
When Moeed tried to push the accelerator he was well caught in the deep by Davies for 56.
Man of the match Goodfellow was finally caught in the covers for a wonderful 76.
Zeeshan Saeed made an aggressive 22 as Freiston posted 209.
Baston captain Adam Hilless starred with the ball claiming five wickets.
Freiston started superbly with the ball, as Taimur Mian struck in his first over.
Davies played aggressively for Baston, making 31 before he chipped to Tommy Atkinson in the covers to give Ollie Booth his only wicket.
The introduction of Ashok Kumar turned the match.
The left arm spinner had opener Tickler caught by Paul for 14 before Richardson edged to slip in a dramatic first over.
Things got better for Freiston when Tommy Atkinson had Burrell caught by Goodfellow.
Morris made 31 and Lamin 20 as Baston showed no signs of giving up the fight.
However, three wickets for Moeed and a further two for Kumar brought an end to the Baston innings.
They were bowled out for 125.
