Boston Evolution Martial Arts members Nesta Baxter and Chelsea Leggatt have been selected to represent Great Britain at the WAKO Junior and Cadet World Championships.
The event will be held in Dublin in August and September.
The two Boston kickboxers, who are both 16, received their letter from the GB head coach confirming their places.
This comes after a successful British Championships in February where Nesta claimed two golds in the -55kg girls’ older cadet continuous and -55kg girls’ junior(16-18 years) continuous and Chelsea claimed a silver in the -70kg girls’ junior (16-18 years) continuous, along with two Great Britain squad training and selection days.
This is Chelsea’s first call up to represent her country at World and European level, while this will be Nesta’s fourth year representing the GB team.
Last year at the WAKO Junior and Cadet European Championships Nesta won the European title in the -55kg point fighting category and a silver medal in the -55kg continuous kickboxing, and she is hoping this year to claim the World Champion title for Evolution.
At the Great Britain weekend training camp in July, held at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, the girls will find out their categories and disciplines in which they will be competing in.
Also at this weekend the adult members of Evolution Martial Arts will find out if they are successful in becoming a member of the WAKO Kickboxing Great Britain squad.
If selected the adults will fight at the WAKO Senior European Championships held in Greece in November.
Nesta and Chelsea are coached by Linda Baxter and Louise Clayton at the Boston club.
