Freiston Leake and Leverton claimed their first victory of the season in the Cojo’s East Lindsey League Division One, beating Sutton on Sea by 54 runs.
The win also moved them off the foot of the table.
An inspired bowling performance from Ollie Booth and Darren Tate led Freiston to victory after Stewart Kirtley’s 63 had seen Freiston to a defendable total.
Batting first, Freiston’s openers put on 23 before Richard Paul was trapped LBW for seven.
Waseem Ilyas made 13 before he was caught.
Freiston’s batting was well below par, except for Kirtley.
Losing wickets regularly, Kirtley was quickly running out of partners.
John Goodfellow (10 not out) played responsibly to support Kirtley as the pair added 28 to take Freiston over 100.
However, when Kirtley was bowled for a super 63, Freiston were soon all out for a below-par 118.
With the new ball Ollie Booth was in inspired form.
Booth lured D. Poynton into an edge which was wonderfully held by keeper Zeeshan Saeed.
Booth then bowled Thorndyke before an incredible catch from Zakir Gatta saw the back of dangerman Reece Brant for only four.
Darren Tate followed up Booth’s super spell with three wickets of his own.
Tate bowled with good control and swung the ball consistently as the hosts where reduced to 27-6.
A super low catch from Hayyan Nadeem gave John Goodfellow his first wicket, before Gatta claimed two as Freiston strode to victory.
Goodfellow took the final wicket to secure a deserved victory for Freiston as Sutton on Sea were dismissed for 64.
