Mark Angel is targeting a top-six finish in his debut season in the dug-out.
The ambitious Boston Town manager is confident that his Poachers can become a force in the UCL Premier.
“I think we’ll have a decent season,” Angel said.
“I still think we can be up in the top six.
“We’ve got a small squad and haven’t got the luxury where we can have 18 or so players, but we’ve got some good young lads.”
This week the Poachers swooped to add some experience to their young squad, signing former Sheffield United, Boston United and Lincoln City forward Tony Battersby.
“I’m delighted to sign Tony for us,” Angel said.
“Tony has had a fantastic career both in the Football League, playing for Sheffield United, Boston United, Stevenage, Rushden & Diamonds and Cambridge and at semi-pro level.
“He will bring vast experience and is a striker who has scored goals at every level he’s played.
“It’s a great signing for us.”
Battersby has also played for the likes of Spalding United, Wisbech, Deeping Rangers and Stamford.
Town were beaten 2-1 by Skegness United in a friendly fixture at the DWB Stadium on Thursday evening, a trialist netting their consolation.
The Poachers will return to their pre-season schedule on Saturday when they host Langford (KO 3pm).
On Tuesday they host Evo-Stik Division One South Spalding United (KO 7.45pm).
