BOSTON Town suffered a Boxing Day defeat to local rivals Sleaford Town... going down 1-0.
The visitors arrived at Tattershall Road on the back of nine straight defeats but – as stand-in Poachers boss Lori Borbely had feared – a derby atmosphere can throw the form book out of the window.
Sleaford’s winner came courtesy of Alex Popple on 62 minutes, forcing the ball home following a goalmouth scramble.
Boston had started the game brightly, although they failed to create any cutting-edge chances.
But after the interval, Sleaford came into their own and Town stopper Chriw Wright was called upon to make some good saves.
After going a goal down, Boston – with recent signings Dane Harper and Mark Lovelace in their ranks - sprung back to life, Craig Parker going closest.
