BOSTON Town have been handed a massive ‘boost’ ahead of tonight’s crunch derby clash with Holbeach United - as attacker Matt Barber has opted to stay with the club.
United Counties League League Premier Division rivals Deeping Rangers were hoping to lure the Peterborough-based player back to Outgang Road, after putting in a seven-day approach.
However, Barber has cut their flirtations short, pledging his future to the Poachers.
“It’s a big boost going into tonight’s game,” said boss Ian Dunn.
“He’s a quality forward player who could quite easily have played for a club closer to his home who - to be fair - are doing better than us at the moment.
“He’s happy and settled with us and is enjoying his football.
“He can see what we’re trying to achieve and he wants to be a part of that.”
Town are in action at Carter’s Park tonight (KO 7.45pm).
