BOSTON Town boss Ian Dunn reckons his Poachers can pull off a David and Goliath victory against big-spending Spalding United tonight (Tuesday).

The two United Counties League Premier Division Yellowbelly rivals meet at Tattershall Road this evening (KO 7.45pm).

And despite Spalding being tipped as favourites for the league title this season, Dunn is desperate to get one over his former club.

“Spalding will be a massive game for us,” he told The Standard.

“They’re overwhelming favourites for the league, but they’re there to be knocked down.”

The Tulips have attracted some big names to the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field this term, including ex-Boston United pair Lee Canoville and Franny Green.

On paper, you would be forgiven for picking Spalding to win the fixture.

However, Dunn is drawing inspiration from last season’s double-winning success at Pinchbeck United.

He said: “We suffered at Pinchbeck as teams came to us to have a go.

“They wanted to make a point and beat us, so that’s what we have to do to Spalding.

“We shouldn’t have to get the players up for any game, especially one like this.

“Our side are starting to gel well together and it should be a good game.”
