Boston Town would love to improve on last year’s FA Vase success.
Today the Poachers travel to face Long Eaton United in the first round proper (KO 3pm), with last season’s run still fresh in their minds.
Ian Dunn and Matt Hocking’s side reached the last 64 of the competition, only to suffer a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat at Gornal Athletic, following a spill from ex-keeper Doug Lindberg.
“It’s a competition we always take seriously,” Hocking said.
“We want to do well in every game. But it would be nice if we could go on a bit of a run again.”
Joint boss Dunn echoed Hocking’s sentiments, adding: “We had a good little run last year and maybe it took some of the pressure off the lads when things weren’t going well in the league.
“It was good for team spirit and we won some money on the way.”
