Boston United club captain Jay Rollins close to return from injury

Craig Elliott hopes Boston United winger Jay Rollins is close to returning to action.

The club captain is yet to feature in a competitive contest this season after breaking a bone in his toe.

But it is hoped Rollins, the current longest-serving player in the Pilgrims squad, could be eligible to face Darlington next Tuesday.

Boston travel to Bradford Park Avenue tomorrow (Wednesday) after the contest was put back two days, but currently have a blank weekend due to Chorley's involvement in the FA Cup.

"We're hoping, if we don't play Saturday, then next week he stands a chance of being back," manager Elliott said.

"It's a difficult one really. He's got a broken bone in his toe and he's getting better every week. I just don't want another setback now.

"He's on track and we're hoping a week, 10 days and he'll be back."

United are unbeaten this season, yet Elliott would still love to see Rollins return.

"We've missed him a little bit in the last few games," he added.

"I just think his pace in games where the space was on the wings, against Telford and Guiseley, he'd have been a massive threat for us.

"There's nobody a bigger fan of Jay Rollins than me and I'm looking forward to having him back."
