Jordan Thewlis will not appear for Boston United again this season due to injury.
The on-loan striker was stretchered off just 21 minutes into his debut at Chorley on Saturday following a hefty challenge from opponent Josh O’Keefe.
Parent club Harrogate Town announced: “Unfortunately Jordan Thewlis suffered an avulsion fracture of the ATFL from the fibula and a partial tear to the ligament on the outside of the ankle at Chorley last weekend.
“He is currently awaiting surgery and is likely to be ruled out for 12-16 weeks.”
Thewlis’s loan period officially ends on New Year’s Day, but United confirmed he will undergo his rehab with Town.
Speaking on Saturday, Pilgrims manager Craig Elliott said: “I’m absolutely gutted for the lad.
“I thought it was a bit of a bad challenge. He’s had a few bad injuries.”
