Rene Steer believes Boston United must improve their away form if they are to book their place in the Skrill North play-offs.

United dropped down to seventh spot following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at strugglers Workington.

Although the full back has every faith that United can respond positively when they host Oxford City on Saturday (KO 3pm), he is calling on improvements away from York Street.

“We’ve got to react against Oxford now,” he said.

“Everyone knows we can still do this, we just need to get our game heads on.

“Everyone’s down about the result but we want to put it right this week.

“We’re back at home and know we can do the business at home. It’s away from home where we need to improve.”

As Steer made the 325-mile trek back from Cumbria to his home in West London, he had plenty of time the dwell on United’s away form.

Boston have won 37 of their 53 league points at home, 11 wins and four draws seing them claim 37 points from 17 matches.

On their travels, United have picked up 16 points.

They have won four and drawn four on the road, losing seven times.
