Dennis Greene is hoping that a bumper crowd will be in attendance to welcome Sunderland to the Jakemans Stadium today.

Boston United will host a side from the Premier League club this afternoon (KO 3pm).

The two sides enjoyed a good relationship last season, which saw Liam Marrs, Liam Agnew and David Ferguson all arrive at Boston for first team experience.

The Black Cats also agreed to let keeper Joel Dixon join the Pilgrims as cover, but he never saw match action.

Now some of those youthful Sunderland players are expected to return to York Street today, albeit in red and white stripes.

And Greene believes they deserve a warm welcome, saying: “It’ll be nice to have Sunderland here.

“We’ll have a good, strong side out against Sunderland.

“Hopefully, we’ll have a really good crowd out and the fans can come in their numbers, because Sunderland have done really well to supoport us.

“We’ll put in a real strong performance.”

Liam Marrs has since left Sunderland, and he is currently on trial at Carlisle United.
