Callum Chippendale says Boston United are ready for whatever the National League North throws at them this season.

The summer arrival, who has excelled since being moved into a new central midfield position, hopes to be part of the starting XI which hosts Stalybridge Celtic at the Jakemans Stadium today.

“I can’t wait for the first game of the season, all the lads are buzzing,” said the former Bradford Park Avenue man.

“Pre-season was about getting rid of a few mistakes but we’re ready for the start of the season.”

Chippendale has never faced Celtic before, but says he is looking forward to taking on Liam Watson’s physical side.

He added: “I haven’t played them before, I’m looking forward to it.

“It’ll be a different challenge, they’re a big, physical side.

“They’re a good team but, we’re a good team.”

Stalybridge won 3-0 at York Street last season, only for Boston to leave Bower Fold with a 5-0 victory on the final day of last season.

Kick off will be at 3pm.
