Boston United lift Rawdon Trophy


A BOSTON United XI won the John Rawdon Memorial Trophy last night.

Goals from Steve Lovett and Scott Dawson saw them sink Horncastle Town at the Wong.

Ex-Horncastle midfielder Lovett netted from 20 yards to put United ahead before the interval, but Tommy Chalk nodded Horncastle level after the break.

With 10 minutes left on the clock, Dawson settled the contest, heading home a Tony Edwards free-kick.

United - a side made up of trialists, rserves and youngsters - welcomed Ricky Drury back between the sticks after spending pre-season with the first team.

Trialists Bert Snaith and Mitch Eustace both appeared for United.
