Boston Roberts is calling on the Boston United fans to cheer the Pilgrims to glory.

United host Curzon Ashton on Saturday, looking to get their season back on track following Tuesday’s home defeat to Solihull Moors and the opening day reverse at Stockport County.

And Roberts knows that a lively crowd can help spur the players on to success - just as it did last season.

“We just need them to get behind us,” said Roberts, reiterating how close competition will be for promotion this National League North season.

“It’s going to be a tough league this season, every game’s going to be a tough game.

“We need to get points on the board and put the performances in.

“If we put the performances in we’ll still get the results.”

Roberts was speaking following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to County, where he was forced to slot in at right back following Zak Mills’ late injury.

But despite that opening-day setback, the midfielder knows the campaign still has plenty of twists and turns left.

“We started off with a loss but we have to forget it and concentrate on winning again,” he added.
