Captain Ian Ross believes that Boston United must cut out the below-par performances if they are to fulfil their Skrill North ambitions this season.

Ross was speaking following Boxing Day’s goalless draw against Histon, a match in which the hosts really failed to get into their stride from start to finish.

And tomorrow, the Pilgrims will face the Stutes yet again in a New Year’s Day clash in Cambridgeshire (KO 3pm).

Ross says the Pilgrims must improve on their previous clash with Histon if they are to finish in the division’s play-off spots.

“Everyone’s gutted. We weren’t good enough,” Ross told The Standard.

“Our finishing was poor, our build-up play was poor.

“We need to be better than that if we want to get into the play-offs.

“If we’ve got high expectations we need to be putting in better performances.”
