Carl Piergianni thinks that his defensive partner Scott Garner should be playing at a higher level.
Garner is officially a Cambridge United player, but joined United in the summer as part of a five-month loan deal, after falling out of favour with the U’s.
During his time at York Street, the former Grimsby Town and Mansfield Town centre back has struck up a keen understanding with Piergianni.
The duo have kept four clean sheets to date, and have also shown their value going forward - chipping in with five goals between them.
Piergianni adds that he is indebted to Garner, believing his game has improved by learning from his partner at the back.
“I’m more than happy to be here and playing,” Piergianni said.
“I never knew Scott before, but he’s a great player and I don’t really know what he’s doing down at this level.
“He’s a good player and he’s helping me to improve my game.
“It’s good playing alongside him.
“We’re getting better and better by the game and we’ve got a great understanding.”
The partnership Piergianni and Garner have struck up has seen fellow centre back Stefan Galinski forced to bide his time, waiting on the bench.
But Piergianni has nothing but faith in the man he played alongside at Corby Town last season.
He added: “We’ve got Stef who’s good in there as well.
“Anyone who knows Stef know’s he’s equally good enough.
“Me and Garns have been doing well, so it’s tough on him that he’s not been getting in the side, but he’ll keep working at it.”
