Boston United’s U18s book place in FA Youth Cup’s first round

BOSTON United’s under 18s will face Burton Albion in the first round of the FA Youth Cup after last night’s 4-3 victory over Stourport Swifts.

The Pilgrims trailed 2-0 before they scored four without reply, following braces from Stuart Whitaker and James Reed at the Jakemans Stadium last night.

Swifts grabbed a last third to set up a nervy finale, but the Pilgrims held on.

Jack Cullity put Stourbridge ahead before Connor Smith put the visitors in a commanding position.

Whitaker reduced the arraers with a neat volley before Reed’s 18-yard finish drew United level.

Defender Lewis Sturman struck the Swifts crossbar before Boston took the lead.

On the hour, Reed also struck the bar, but his effort found the net after smashing the underside of the woodwork.

Whitaker’s header appeared to have given Boston a comfortable cushion, although sub Jack Roe grabbed a late consolation.

UNITED: Macann, Delahoy (Towell 80), Sturman, Nuttell, Rossington, Reed, Price (Platten 69), Beauchamp, Whitaker, Sanders (Briers 19), Tricks; Subs (not used): Langan, Marr.
