Boston United wary of wounded North Ferriby

Dennis Greene believes FA Trophy foes North Ferriby United will be smarting following last Saturday’s shock defeat at Hyde.

The Villagers were beaten 1-0 at Ewen Fields in what was just the Tigers’ second victory of the Vanarama North season.

But as the Pilgrims prepare to face Ferriby at Grange Lane in the Trophy today (KO 3pm), manager Greene reckons that surprise defeat is more than likely to fire up the hosts.

“Sometimes when you get a defeat you want to be even stronger the following week to put that right, whereas sometimes if you had six straight wins you can be a bit complacent,” said Greene, challenging his side to cross back over the Humber with a place in the draw for the second round and £5,000 in prize money.

“Who knows, we’ll find out - but we’ve got to play well to win.”

United captain Scott Garner will return from suspension while it remains to be seen whether Greg Tempest will return from injury in time to play.

If a replay is needed it will be played on Tuesday.
