Dennis Greene believes that Dayle Southwell is the best all-round striker in the National League North.
The ex-Grimsby Town trainee converted Jordan Richards’ cross to earn the Pilgrims a point following a 2-2 draw at AFC Telford this afternoon, his 10th goal of the campaign.
And when asked if he has seen a better forward in this division, Greene admitted he hadn’t.
“As an all-round striker, no,” Greene said. “As an all-round striker - left-foot finish, right-foot finish, header - no.
“He can hold the ball up, he can go in behind and he can take people on. I don’t think there is better in the league.
“There are strikers who can do better things than Dayle, but he’s a complete all-round centre forward, and that’s what makes him better.
“Dayle’s a proven goalscorer, he’s got 10 already this season and he’s on course to be the league’s top goalscorer.
“He won’t be happy unless he achieves that.”
Reflecting on the draw, which saw the Pilgrims fight back from a 2-0 interval deficit, Greene added: “I’m pleased to get an away point.
“We had so much time to get the third and they just had to show a little more composure on the ball and use the extra man, but they never did that.
“We were much better second half, four games unbeaten.”
