MARC Newsham’s return from injury saw trhe striker do what he does best - find the net.

The forward, who is return to full match fitness following a troublesome knee injury slotted home to help Boston United earn a Lincs Senior Shield victory over Evo-Stik Division One North Lincoln United.

Three first-half goals at Ashby Avenue were enough for Boston to book their place in the semi-final against Gainsborough - where Newsham will now go head-to-head with best mate and ex-Pilgrim Jamie Yates on Tuesday.

Headers from Lee Canoville and Mickey Stones helped the visitors’ progression.

Boston took the lead on 31 minutes when Canoville nodded home Ben Milnes’ corner.

Stones doubled the lead for the dominant Pilgrims as hea headed home Ben Wilkinson’s cross six minutes later.

And four minutes before the interval it was game over as Stones freed Newsham, who stroked the ball home.

Kallum Smith gave Lincoln some hope in the second half when he curled home a free-kick - but it was Boston who progressed.
